Numbers 6:1-27
To be the Nazirite, he must abstain from wine and other germented drink and must no drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink.
During the entire period of his vow of separation no razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of his separation to the Lord is over.
Incently defiling the hair he has sin and have to reset the days count. The previous ays do not count.
When the period of his separation is over, he have to present burnt offering, felloship offering to the Lord.
His hair must be shaved off and put it in the fore that is under the sacrifice of the fellowship offering.
The Priestly Blessing: The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you; the Lord turn his face toweard you and give you peace. 願耶和華賜福給你,保護你。願耶和華使他的臉光照你,賜恩給你。願耶和華向你仰臉,賜你平安。
Why?
A special vow gives the Nazirite his or her spiritual status. The ourward marks of consecration to God are: 1)no wine or strong drink 2)uncut hair 3) special care to avoid defilement through contact with a dead body.
The vow was usually for a limited time but Samuel had lifeling vow.
The peace is the gift of the Lord.
Even we are not be the Nazirite, but as a Christian all we have are the mercy and grace from the Lord. I would like to devote all I have to the Lord, because God loves me just as I am.
How?
May the Lord belss me and keep me, the Lord make his face shine on me, the Lord turn his face toward me and give me peace. How great you are, O Lord!
