Numbers 10:1-36
The Lord asked Moses make two trumpets of hammered silver , an use them for calling the community together. Both are sound: whole community is to assemble before Moses. One is sounded, the leaders are assemble before Moses. A trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out. Second sounding of trumpet blast the tribes camping on the south are to set out.
The sons of Aaron are to blow the trumpets.
The divisions of the camp of Judah went first, then Issachar, Zebulun, [Gershonites and Merarites have taken down tabernacle], Reuben, Simeon, Gad, [Kohathites carrying the holy things],Ephraim,Manasseh, Benjamin, Dan, Asher and Naphtalie.
Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, "Raise up, O Lord! May your enemies be scattered; may your foes flee before you."
Whenever it came to rest, he said, "Return, O Lord! to the countless thousands of Israel."
Why?
There needs a signal to lead so numerous group to set out in desert. We need the sign from the Lord to lead church in this generation. The priest, the pastor or elder, should transfer the signal of the Lord to his people.
When the Israelite move on, Moses declare the blessing from the Lord, let people peace to set out.
A leader of church should blesses his church under the protection of the Lord.
Signal to move are cloud by day and fire by night covering the Tent at the centre of their camp marked God's presence in their midst.
Two special silver trumpets sounded the alarm, summoned the assemble, and announced the feasts and new months.
About three weeks after the census they strike camp and leave Mt Sinai, in the order described in chapter 2. Moses 'borther-in-law goes with them as guide.
How?
Under God's leading whole community are run in order with signals of cloud and fire and sounding of silver trumpets. May the signal of the Lord show me the way forward. Raise up, O Lord! May your enemies be scatter before you and leads my way keep going.
