Numbers 13:1-33
Twelve leaders from each tribe sent to explore the land of Canaan which the Lord is giving to the Israelites.
At end of forty days they returned from exploring the land and carried a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs.
They reported to Moses and Aaron and to the whole assembly, the land does flow with milk and honey, but the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.
Caleb said, We could go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.
But the men who had gone up with him said,' We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are, we seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we liked the same to them.
Why?
These 12 leaders agreed that Canaan is very good land as God promised.
But 10 of them saw the people and their cities, they lose the courage, they do not have faith to go forward for the afraid their enemy.
Caleb had faith and believe they could take possession of the land.
The Lord has promised will certainly be truth.
Do we see the promise of the Lord or the difficulty of the world. We understand the problems and difficulty of the promised land, but don't forget that the God is powerful over all of these.
From Deuteronomy 1:19-25 it seems plain that Moses intended to go straight on into the promised land at this point: it was the people's suggestion that they should send spies ahead.
Two man of faith put the true interpretation on the facts, but the people listened to the ten prophets of doom厄運 with their tales of giants and grasshoppers.
Within sight of the goal,a whole generation cut itself off goal that was promised.
How?
No matter do know or don't know the situation of the goal, faithful perspective is more important, for the Lord is with us. Do our part and the Lord will do others we lacked.
