Isaiah 6:1-13
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”Then I said, “For how long, Lord?” Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged...
But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
The overwhelming experience of God's holiness described in this chapter shaped Isaiah's whole life as a prophet. He constantly spoke of the God he served as 'the Holy One of Israel'. The knowledge that he had seen God with his own eyes, experienced his forgiveness and been sent out in God's service would sustain him all his life. And he would need this: for God sent him to a nation deaf and blind to his entreaties; a nation that would be destroyed and taken captive. Yet there was hope; the germ of a new nation would survive.
Why?
God did not intend to stop people repenting. He sent Isaiah out with the express purpose of saving people from judgment, and the prophet's message is clear. But the people shut their ears and refused to act.
Oak leave stumps : This seems to mean a new beginning.
Here am I. Send me! Isaiah response to the Lord to be God's servant and send God's message to his people.
God's holy prophet, Isaiah, sees Holy God, is an mercy and share the glory of the Lord.
Isaiah concern how long his people be ruin, for he loved his people.
There will be a new beginning in Israel, until the custom and culture were ruin, there is no other way to turn their heart. So God used a new way to rebuilt this city.
How?
God has his way to make everything goes better. Be a Christian, response to the Lord's calling.
