Acts 9:1-22
Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?
In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!”
But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.
Saul's confrontation with Jesus, on the road to the old Syrian capital, Damascus, marks a turning-point in the history of the early church. The story is told three times early church. The story is told three times in Acts: once, her, by Like, and twice by Saul/Pail himself.
Never has nay conversion brought a more radical change. The blinding light leaves Saul sightless for three days, with nothing to do but think. By the time Ananias reaches him. Saul the persecutor has become 'Brother Saul' - a man who will suffer much for the cause he tried to stamp out. His immense energy is given at once to preaching Jesus as Son of God; and opposition begins.
Why?
The Lord, Jesus Christ himself chose Saul as his instrument to proclaim Jesus name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
Saul met Jesus so his spirit changed in three days, doing nothing but thinking only. Under the hand of Ananias, Holy Spirit come upon Saul and he became brother Saul/Paul.
Jesus may change everything and heart of each man. For God is living us. and those who does not knowing Him.
How?
Give honor to the Lord, praise the Holy name of Jesus Christ.
