Genealogy is meaningful in the Bible

Genesis 11:10-32
Forefather of Abram is Shem.
Here again the list of names is selective, probably abbreviating the total length of time involved.
Noah's ancestors were considerably longer-lived than Terah's and the age of parenthood is now much younger.
When Terah's name is reached the list becomes more detailed. This is the family we are to concentrated on. Terah's three sons are names, and their home-town given as Ur of the Chaldeans.
The journey takes them 900km miles from Ur to Harran- like Ur, a centre of moon-worship.
From Adam to Noah there were ten generations, From Noah to Abram there were ten generations.
All the records in Bible is necessary, so genealogy is meaningful in the Bible
How?
How about my ancestor? I don't know, but more important is the Lord is my father.
