Judges 10:1-8
After the time of Abimelek, a man of Issachar named Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose to save Israel. He led Israel twenty-three years.
He was followed by Jair of Gilead, who led Israel twenty-two years.
Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord. They served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines.
For eighteen years they oppressed all the Israelites on the east side of the Jordan in Gilead, the land of the Amorites.
The two were not military leaders. They 'judged' Israel, respectively, for 23 and 22 uneventful(波瀾不驚) years.
Southern Israel is now caught in a vice between the Philistines on the west and the Ammonites on the east.
Why?
Once again the Israelite did evil in the eyes of the Lord, they forsake the God Almighty, they pursued the gods around their countries. So the enemies arose and oppressed all the Israelites.
Under the peace, they were forgot the grace of the Lord and be attracted by the world, God's chosen men are less than whole population.
How?
Trust in the God, do not forget His Grace and love, only the Lord is my God.

God's righteousness endure forever
Judges 9:22-57
God made revenge to Abimelech and Shechem for the shedding of their blood, Jerub-Baal's 70 sons.
God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.
God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness.
God - and justice - has the last word, even if it is presented in a rather tit-for-tat(針鋒相對) fashion.
Symbolically consigning the city to permanent desolation. It was in fact rebuilt 150 years later in the time of Jeroboam I.
Upper millstone: 45cm/18 inches across.
How?
God is righteousness, not wickedness can live long in the world. Fear the Lord for He is God. His righteousness endure forever.

Story-with-a-point
Judges 9:1-21
Gideon, with some claim to kingship, firmly rejected it. Abimelech, his brutal and ambitious son, shows no such scruples(顧忌). But Abimelech is not Gods choice as his father was, and the writer plainly sees the dangers of inherited (dynastic) leadership.
Shechem : was the central sanctuary of Israel in Joshua's day. But now it has a temple/house to Baal. The city's history goes back a very long way to Jacob and earlier.
This is an early example of a parable or story-with-a-point. Compare Nathan's parable in 2 Samuel 12:1-4.
story-with-a-point: make a point - tell a story. point out the danger of leadership.
How?
Dangers of inherited leadership, God's choice better than man's idea.

Image of God is forbade
Judges 8:22-35
It is good that Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.”
It is wrong that Gideon told them "each of you give me an earring from your share of the plunder." Gideon made the gold into an ephod, which he placed in Ophrah, his town. All Israel prostituted themselves by worshiping it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and his family.
Ephod: In the Old Testament, the ephod has two meanings. In one group of passages, it signifies a garment; in another, very probably an image. As a garment the ephod is referred to in the priestly ordinances as a part of the official dress of the high priest.
The word ephod has an entirely different meaning in the second group of passages. The most natural inference from all these passages is that “ephod” here signifies an image that was set up in the sanctuary, especially since the word is cited with teraphim, which undoubtedly refers to graven(雕像) images. ephod, in these cases, refers to a portable idol.
On the death of Gideon, the Israelite once again began to worship the Baals. God was fine in a crisis, but when that was forgotten the pull of gods who would bind Israel to their neighbours and give good crops was too strong.
Why?
Probably an image of God, which the law forbade, though Good News Bible translates 'idol'. The place then became a rival to Israels official sanctuary.
People always easy to forget the sad consequence for their sins after they have peace.
How?
Carefully to follow God's word and commandment, even Gideon took great things but he failed in his way at last.

Crescent-moon-shaped ornaments
Judges 8:1-21
Gideon went up by the route of the nomads(游牧民族) east of Nobah and Jogbehah and attacked the unsuspecting(毫無防備的) army. He pursued them and capture them, routing(verb,擊潰) their entire army.
As is the man, so is his strength.
Gideon took the oraments off Zebah and Zalmunna camels' necks
Crescent-moon-shaped ornaments are still popular among Arab peoples today. The Bible mentions them only here and in Isaiah.
People lived in Scooth and Peniel refused to help Gideon, so they were be punished after Gideon came back from battle.
Why?
Brave are Gideon and his 300 men, attacked fifteen thousand entire army.
As is the man, so is his strength. As strong and brave is Gideon so he has trength to kill his enemy. As week is son of Gideon so he afraid to kill other. As evildoer is Zebah and Zalmunna, so they suffer the same consequences.
How?
Victory of fight is belong to the Lord, but all the plunder are belong to God either.

A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!
Judges 7:15-25
Gideon and his 300 men, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!”
The Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords.
Israelites from Naphtali, Asher and all Manasseh were called out. Gideon sent messengers through out the hill country of Ephraim,"Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth Barah."
Why?
Gideon uses his wits in the surprise attack, but the victory in the ensuing(隨後) rout(大敗) is God's.
Once again God go ahead before Gideon, the victory is belong to the Lord.
Because Gideon heard the dream in the camp of Midianites, "This can be nothing other than the sword of Gideon, the Israelite. God has given the Midianites and the whole camp into his hands." so they shout "A sword for the Lord and for Gideon."
How?
Be encouraged, follow God's way and work with God, there is victory belong to the Lord, we are working with the Lord.

Serve the Lord with faith
Judges 7:1-14
Before the war between Israel and Medianites, the Lord let Gideon reduce his army number from twenty-two thousand men to three hundred men. In order that Israel may not boast against God that their own strength has saved them.
Gideon went to the camp of Medianites as God told him, he heard the talk in the camp, Gideon knew that the Lord has bring the enemy into his hand.
Bedouin from the east - the Midianties who were descendants of Abraham by his second wife, Keturah - swept through southern Israel as far as the Philistines city of Gaza. The terror spread by these fierce camel-rider is vividly pictured in 6:11. Gideon is forces to thresh his meagre grain harvest secretly, in the confines of the wine press.
The faith of this man, for all his initial caution, is see in his readiness to face the Midianite hordes(成群) with a force of only 300 men.
The barley loaf stands for Israel, the tent for the nomadic(游牧) Midianites
Why?
God don't want the people serve him are trembles, without faith. The behavior is not good are excludes from the servant of the Lord either, who drink water like the dogs.
Those who scoop up the water and lap it from their hands are more alert to danger than those who kneel.
How?
Serve the Lord with faith and live as noble. For we are the servant of the Almighty God.

Out Lord is a really God
Judges 6:25-40
Gideon tore down hisfather’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper kind of altar to the Lord on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that he cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering.
When people found their gods Baal was demolished, they demanded of Joash bring his son Gideon. His father replied "If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar"
Gideon asked God second times to confirm that the Lord is with him to conquer the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples united enemy with the fleece as sign.
Why?
Ask the Lord for sign is allowed to follow God's command, in case the idea or mind is come from our own mind.
If Baal really is a god , he can defend himself. And Baal is not a really god. But the Lord is a really god, his love and righteousness endure forever. Our God listen to my prayer and blesses me.
How?
Fear the Lord and protect our heart with Him. He is the Lord!

The Lord is Peace, Gideon built a altar
Judges 6:1-24
"Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said."
Ans. I am theLord your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live. But you have not listened to me.
Go in the strength you have and saveIsrael out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you? Angel told Gideon
But how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.
If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.
Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
Why?
Many people will ask the same question like Gideon, Why has all this happened to us? The answer is simple, because they do not listen to the word of God.
Gideon did not know who the angle was, so he asked the angle give him a sign.
Gideon is humble and careful to listen angle's talk.
Finally Gideon built a altar to the Lord, remember that the Lord is Peace.
If we do not sure the way God assigned to us, we can ask the Lord give us a sign.
How?
The Lord is peace, but there are many war and disaster in the world because they did not listen to the word of God.

Live to honor God's holy name
Judges 5:19-31
From the heavens the stars fought,
from their courses they fought against Sisera.
21 The river Kishon swept them away,
the age-old river, the river Kishon.
March on, my soul; be strong!
22 Then thundered the horses’ hooves(蹄)—
galloping(馳騁), galloping go his mighty steeds(戰馬).
So may all your enemies perish, Lord! But may all who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength.
The song that celebrates the battle provides the clue to the victory.
A cloudburst turned the Kishon into a raging torrent. Many of the chariots were swept away, the rest completely bogged down in the mud.
The 'battle-hymn' has an eye-witness freshness and sheer exultation(大喜, 歡樂) about it that comes through despite some problems arising from the age of the text. The poet-composer uses all the devices of sound, beat and repetition(復誦)to depict scenes as swift and vivid as a film - finally cutting with dramatic effect from Jael, hammer raised straight to Sisera's mother, waiting in vain for her son's return.
Taanach is only 8km from Megiddo, the scene of so man battles that it gave its name to the ultimate battle-place 'Armageddon'. The waters or stream of Megiddo is the River Kishon.
How?
Write a song or a story to describe the Almighty hand of the Lord had done for me. I live to witness great love of the Lord and honor his holy name.

The song of Deborah
Judges 5:1-18
The song of Deborah.
I will sing to the Lord, I will sing; I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel.
Village life in Israel ceased, ceased until I, Deborah, arose. When they chose new gods, war came to the city gates.
They recite the righteous acts of the Lord, the righteous acts of his warriors in Israel.
The song that celebrates the battle provides the clue to the victory.
Why?

The Lord has gone head of us
Judges 4:12-24
Has not the Lord gone head of you? The Deborah said to Barak.
At Barak's advance, the Lor routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword.
On that day God subdued Jabin, the Canaanite king, before the Israelites.
Barak gets no glory from the action, for it is another woman, the resourceful(足智多謀) Jael, who slays the mighty Sisera with a handy tent peg and mallet(槌).
Why?
It is the Lord who destroy the king Jabin and his army leader Sisera, so 900 iron chariots are not the excuse to Israel to defeat their enemy.
Go with the Lord no one can resist. Our God is the Almighty God!
Deborah knew that the Lord has gone before Barak, army of Israel.
How?
Be encouraged, God is the Lord, in him there is not difficulty.

Two extraordinary women
Judges 4:1-11
Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time. she held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim.
The powerful story is dominated by two extraordinary women - Deborah the prophetess and Jael, wife of tent-dwelling Heber the Kenite.
Deborah is a judge in the judicial sense, a woman of authority. Not only does she send for the military leader. Barak, a give him God's instruction, she is also perfectly ready to make an 80km/50mile journey north to go with him into battle.
Why?
God uses women as his servants, and led Israel to defeat their enemy.
Deborah is a prophetess, but Jael is a ordinary woman, they did wonderful thing. And the Lord is with them.
There is not difference with male or female, but who is follow the law of the Lord and encourage to obey God's commandments.

Ready my heart to serve the Lord with faith and obedience.

Again and again
Judges 3:12-31
Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite.
That day Moab was made subject to Israel, and the land had peace for eighty years.
Eglon of Maob headed an eastern allicance which included Ammonites and Amalekites. They not only overran the and east of Jordan, but crossed the river to set up an outpost at Jericho.
Like Ehus, mny of the Benjamites were left-handed or ambidextrous(懷有二心的) - the tribe's left-handed slingers had a formidable(強大) reputation. On this occasion it meant that the movement aroused no suspicion.
This one-off feat with an 2.5m metaltipped pole wiped out 600 men but did not restrain the Philistines for long.
Why?
Because the Lord is with Ehud so he can make it to save Isreal from hand of Eglon, king of Moab.
History are again and again happen the similar things.

God is in charge of human affairs
Judges 3:1-11
The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.
But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
If Cushan-rishathaim was indeed king of 'Mesopotamia' the attack must have come from the north - which makes his defeat at the hands of a southern champion surprising. Nut some would emend the name to Cushan chief of Teman (in Edom)
Why?
Anger... sold (v8): The writer ascribes human feelings to God and, since God is in charge of human affairs, expresses that in direct terms which often make modern readers uncomfortable. This is the style of the whole book, and we see it in many other parts of the Old Testament.
The Spirit of the Lord came upon him: The same phrase in used of Gideon, Jephthah and Samson. The might of these champions was a special gift from God.
40 years is frequently used in the Old Testament as a round number meaning ' a generation' or ' for a long time.'
Morden feel unconfortable because they do not like God's righteousness and angry, people don't like be pinished. Actually, God loves everyone who comes to the Lord and cried to Him.

Disobedience brings defeat
Judges 2:11-23
Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. For the Lord relented because of their groaning under those who oppressed and afflicted them. But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.
God says "I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep the way of the Lord and walk in it as their ancestors did."
V6-9 brings us back to the point at which the book of Joshua concluded. V11-23 set out the repeated pattern of events which began once the conquest generation had die out.
As a result of disobedience, of abandoning God in favour of the local gods, the surrounding nations are not driven out. They remain as a thorn in Israel's side, to test the nation and keep Israel's fighting men well trained in the skills of war.
Why?
Man watches their own way and try to change it by their own strength and rely on other gods. They forgot the Lord Almighty is their only God.
When people pray or cry out to the Lord, God relented to them. God is Love!
How?
Disobedience brings defeat. Fear the Lord and obey his commandment.

God is fountain of blessing
Judges 2:1-10
The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and warned Israelite, asked them why them disobeyed God, God will not drive Canaanites out before them; they will become traps for them, and their gods will become snares to them.
They called that place Bokim, the people wept aloud.
After that whole generation of Joshua had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord not what he had done for Israel.
This verses serve a a comment on the failures recounted in Chapter1. Gigal was where the people first camped and built an altar after crossing the Jordan.
The angle of the Lord: Mentioned a number of times in Judges as well as in other Bible passages, the angel always comes as god's representative, with a special message from God. He speaks in God's name often in the first person as god, and is virtually identified with God by those to whom he appears. Sometimes he shows himself as an ordinary person, sometimes as an awesome heavenly being. But no one who sees him is left in any doubt of his authority.
Why?
People are easy forget the history of their father.
Before God punished his people, God is like to warn them, give them chance to return, if they still so their way and do not repent to the Lord, the consequence of disobedience will come soon.
How?
Take a chance to know God and let people may know the Lord and turn to God. God is fountain of blessing

Consequence of our choice
Judges 1:22-35
House of Joseph attacked Bethel.
Manasseh did not drive out the people of Beth Shan or Taanach.. and their surrounding settlement.
Nor Ephraim drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, neither did Zebulun drive out the Cananites livin in Kitron or ahalol. Nor did Asher drive out those living in Acco or Sidon.. Neither did Naphtali drive out those living in Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath.
The Amorites confined the Danites to the hill country, not allowing them to come down into the plain.
Seven tribes did not drive out the Canaanites in west of Jodan river. Only two tribes drove Canaanite out their land.
Judah, the trive from which David and his line of kins would come, is first to continue the conquest after Joshua's death, with notable success. The Benjamine failure to drive out the Jevusites from Jerusalem qualifies the victory of verse 8. the stronghold would not fall until Knin David took it.
Why?
These seven tribes had not faith in the Lord and asked Lord help them to make it.
The human scene in Judges is a depressing one. The nation's fortunes follow a monotonous, repetitive cycle. Israel deserts God for the local gods, the suffer at the hands of the Canaanites and cry out to God for help. God send a deliverer. All is well for a while: then the old pattern of infidelity(不忠) reasserts(重新確立) itself. There is no more graphic portrayal in Scripture of the tendency humans have to go their own way - even those who know God.
How?
Walk on our own way or God's way? The consequence is so clear depends on what way we chose.

Successes and failures; Judges 1
Judges 1:1-21
Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites? "Judah is to go; I have given the land into their hands." God said.
Judah attacked Jerusalem, Hebron, killed Canaanites adn Perizzites.
The men of Judah went with the Simeonites their bothers and attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath and it was called Hormah, they also took Gaza, Ashkelon and Ekron - each city with its territory.
They were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had iron chariots.
Benjamites, however, failed to dislodge the Jebusite, who were living in Jerusalem.
Judges covers the period in Isreal's history between Joshua's death and the rise of samuel - roughly 1220 to 1050 BC. It was a difficult, unsettled time, when the scattered tribes were without central leadership held together only by their commn faith.
Six of the 12 Judges mentioned are described in some detail: Othniel, Ethud, Deborah/Barak, Gideon, Jephthan, Samson. These 'judges' of Israel were not simply legal advisers. They delivered tribes or nation from enemy oppression, winning their laurels in active service.
Why?
Iron charoits is not the problem to Israel, but their faith to the Lord.
Loyalty to God meant a strong united nation: turning to the gods around brought weakness and division. That is the author's central theme as he arranges and brings together these stories of local heroes which have been told and retold down the years.
The wonder is God's constant love and concern. Despite Israel's past unfaithfulness, and what God knows will happen again, as soon as they turn to him God answers. And he chooses to work with the most unpromising people.
How?
Loyalty to God meant a strong situaton to a nation and to a man.

Give God the best one for God loves me
Leviticus 27:26-34
The firstborn already belongs to the Lord.
But nothing that a person owns and devotes to the Lord, may be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord.
No person devoted to destruction may be ransomed; he must be put to death. The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable(不可撤銷) giving over of things or persons to the Lord. often by totally destroying them.
Tithe of everything from the land belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
Over and above this, people might vow individuals or possessions to God as a dedication or thank-offerings. Normally these would be redeemed for their set valuation, plus one-fifth.
Bring us back to the source of authority for these and all the laws in Leviticus. The commands are God's given through Moses, at Sinai.
Why?
Remember that the Lord controls everything in the world, it is the grace of the Lord that we may live and have property in the world. We take part of God's property for dedication. Giving Lord the best for we respect and honor the Lord.
How?
Give thanks to the Lord for God loves me.

Vows and tithes
Leviticus 27:1-25
Anyone makes a special vow to dedicate persons to the Lord by giving equivalent values.
If a man who dedicates his animal, house, part of his family land, redeems it, he must add a fifth to its value. Priest will judge its quality good or bad and value it when a man dedicates it.
If he does not redeem the field, which he dedicated to the Lord, of it he has sold it it to someone else, it can never be redeemed. When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will become holy like a field devoted to the Lord, it will become the property of the priests.
If dedicates to the Lord a field he has bought, which is not part of his family land, the priest will determine its value up to the year of Jubilee, and the man must pay it value on that day as something holy to the Lord.
Why?
Firstborn sons, the firstlings of flocks and herds, and firstfruits of the field are God's by right (he accepts part for the whole)
How?
All I have are belongs to the Lord, I must pay part of it to the Lord like tithe to express my faith to God.

God's word is not change
Leviticus 26:21-46
If int spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.
But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers, then when those uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
The cursings are more detailed than the blessings: human nature being what it is, fear brings a readier response than love. Yet even after all the disobedience, God still promises to respond to the call of genuine repentance.
Why?
Warning is horrible than any others, but atlas Israelites still disobedience to the Lord later, so they suffering and being exiled to enemy nations. Because He is the Lord who brought them from Egypt.
God is love, he remember the covenant with Jacob, Isaac and Abraham, when they confess their sins, God will save them and bring them back to the promised land. For God is faithfulness to his people.
How?
Repent our sins and obey God's commands the blessing will come to us. God is the Lord, his word is not change.

Blessings and punishments
Leviticus 26:1-20
Consequences of two ways, one is follow God's decrees and are careful to obey his commands, another is not listen God and you reject God's decrees and abhor his laws and fail to carry out all his commands.
Blessings and punishments:
The reward of obedience is pictured as an idyll of peace and plenty. Best of all, God will walk amongst his people, as he walked in the garden with the first man and woman. This is Eden restored.
Disobedience, on the other hand, will bring calamity on the nation: fatal disease, famine, wild beasts ravaging the land, and war leading to exile.
Why?
There is two ways let us choose, one is blessing another is punishment. The consequence is our choice.
How?
No doubt I chose to follow God's decrees and careful to obey his commands. I needs the blessing from the Lord

Same right of living and freedom
Leviticus 25:19-55
Anyone who sells a house in a walled city retains the right of redemption a full year after its sale. During that time the seller may redeem it. If it is not redeemed before a full year has passed, the house in the walled city shall belong permanently to the buyer and the buyer’s descendants. It is not to be returned in the Jubilee.
But houses in villages without walls around them are to be considered as belonging to the open country. They can be redeemed, and they are to be returned in the Jubilee.
Properties of Levites always may redeem his possess, But the pastureland belonging to their towns must not be sold.
The rules of Israelites to be a slave, must be redeemed by his relatives or be released in Jubilee.
For the Israelites belong to God as servants.
Why?
It is a time when those who have fallen on bad times have their freedom and property restored. Jubilee, the year of restoration, serves a dual purpose. It reminds the people that the land belongs to God; and it prevents the wealthy from amassing land.
The land is mine, and you come to it as aliens and tenants of mine.
How?
Respect each man in the world, they have the same right of living and freedom.

This world is not my home
Leviticus 25:1-28
In the seventh year the land is to have a sabbth of rest, a sabbath to the Lord.
Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.
The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
This chapter looks forward to the time when the nation will occupy the 'promised land'. The pattern of sevens reflected in the festivals is extended to the land.
One year in seven it is to lie fallow(休耕): a year in which the people, free from much of their ordinary work, are to be taught and trained in God's law.
The fiftieth yrar, following the seventh seven, is an extra fallow year for the land, which reverts to its original owner.
Why?
All of the property are belong to the Lord, I am an alien and tenant before the Lord. This land is belong to the Lord.
Let the land rest is to respect the Lord and give the fruit to the poor and neighbor. And it is good to the land, land has more fertility next year.
All are belong to God so jubilee means to return to the original owner. I have what God gives to me.
How?
Look down everything in this world, this world is not my home.

God is the greatest and migty God
Leviticus 24:1-23
Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. The lamp be kept burning continually.
Set loaf two rows, six in each row, on the table of pure gold before the Lord.
If anyone curses his God, he will be held responsible, anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death.
Anyone takes the life of a human being he must be put to death, anyone who takes the life of someone's animal must make restitution - life for life.
Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, but whoever kills a man must be put to death.
Same law for the alien and the native-born.
The lamps which must be kept burning in God's Tent, and the weekly offering of twelve loaves.
They are not put there for God to eat. Aaron and the priests are openly instructed to eat the bread themselves.
Eye for eye: The principle is one of exact and limited public justice: it outlaw individual revenge and blood-feud(血世仇). The fact that literal retaliation(報復) by bodily mutilation(斷肢) was legally allowed does not necessarily mean it was practised. Compensation for injury often took the form of a fine.
Why?
The loaves remind the tribes of their complete dependence on God's provision.
Keep the lamp in God's Tent remind the Lord is among people always.
The loaves let peoepl remember the provision of the Lord.
Life to life is very simple and justice law and easy to be practised. Prevent other revenge and blood-feud. God is the Lord, God is great and completly in everything.
God's law is justice and equally to alien and native-born.
How?
Praise God for his mighty hands, great creature and his way.

Salvation is from the Lord
Leviticus 23:23-44
Feast Trumpets: (7/1) present an offering made to the Lord by fire.
The new year Festival and first of three festivals in the seventh month.
Day of Atonement: (7/10) present an offering made to the Lord by fire. Deny yourself and do not work. From the evening of the (7/9) until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.
Feast of Tabernacles: (7/15) last for seven days.Bring offering made to the Lord by fire - the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. Celebrate the festival to the Lord for 7 days. Live in booths so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt.
A perpetual reminder of the nation's tent-dwelling days following the deliverance from Egypt. This feast was later associated with the grape harvest, the vintage.
Why?
Do not forget what God had done on us, his love and his grace poured on me.
Give thanks to the Lord for my harvest, without the Lord, I can do nothing.
How?
Remember the salvation is from the Lord!

Is the Lord made harvest grown
Leviticus 23:1-22
The appointed feast of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.
There are the Sabbath, the Passover and unleavened bread, First fruits, feast of Weeks, feast of Trumpets, day of Atonement, feast of Tabernacles.
The Sabbath: one day of rest in seven
The Passover: (1/14) seven days. followed by the seven-day
The Firstfruit: followed by seven weeks later by, together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil.
The feast of weeks: the harvest festival (June). Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath. The day brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks.
Bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruit to the Lord. And bring a sin offering, fellowship offering, wave offering.
Why?
The seasons of the year, seed time and harvest are marked with special festivals.
Like the weekly sabbath, they reflect a pattern of sevens - pointing back to God setting the seventh day apart as a special day at creation.
Only in the feast of weeks for celebration so the bread may baked with yeast.
How?
People put seek in the land, and God let it growing up. The harvest is the grace of the Lord, so had feasts to thanks the Lord.

Only the very best we can serve to the Lord
Leviticus 22:1-33
The priests are to keep my requirements so that they do not become guilty and die for treating them with contempt(鄙視,輕視).
Priest's daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.
Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites.
No one with any physical defect may serve as priest, though he may eat the holy bread.
Only the very best we can give - whether in the priesthood or sacrificial offerings - is in any measure worthy of God.
Why?
A woman married she become member of his husband family, not longer be the member of her original family. Through marriage they build a new family.
How?
Serve the best to the Lord, prepare ourselves to serve the Lord which including reading God's word and humble heart.

The priests are holy to their God
Leviticus 21:1-24
A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people who die, except for a close relative, such as his mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother, or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband.
They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God.
No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the Lord.
Why?
A priest himself have to be ceremonially clean, even marriage and his descendant who has any defect is not allow come near the altar to present offering to the Lord, but he may eat the most holy food of his God.
God is holy and he loves the descendant of the priest.
Because of their position and duties the priests are subject to particularly stringent regulations on ritual purity. Anything which makes them 'unclean' means they may touch anything in God's holy sanctuary. The rules for the high priest are even stricter.
How?
To be a minister of the Lord as me, I should keep obey the command and decrees of the Lord, because he is Holy.
