Leviticus 27:26-34
The firstborn already belongs to the Lord.
But nothing that a person owns and devotes to the Lord, may be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord.
No person devoted to destruction may be ransomed; he must be put to death. The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable(不可撤銷) giving over of things or persons to the Lord. often by totally destroying them.
Tithe of everything from the land belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
Over and above this, people might vow individuals or possessions to God as a dedication or thank-offerings. Normally these would be redeemed for their set valuation, plus one-fifth.
Bring us back to the source of authority for these and all the laws in Leviticus. The commands are God's given through Moses, at Sinai.
Why?
Remember that the Lord controls everything in the world, it is the grace of the Lord that we may live and have property in the world. We take part of God's property for dedication. Giving Lord the best for we respect and honor the Lord.
How?
Give thanks to the Lord for God loves me.
