Judges 2:1-10
The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and warned Israelite, asked them why them disobeyed God, God will not drive Canaanites out before them; they will become traps for them, and their gods will become snares to them.
They called that place Bokim, the people wept aloud.
After that whole generation of Joshua had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord not what he had done for Israel.
This verses serve a a comment on the failures recounted in Chapter1. Gigal was where the people first camped and built an altar after crossing the Jordan.
The angle of the Lord: Mentioned a number of times in Judges as well as in other Bible passages, the angel always comes as god's representative, with a special message from God. He speaks in God's name often in the first person as god, and is virtually identified with God by those to whom he appears. Sometimes he shows himself as an ordinary person, sometimes as an awesome heavenly being. But no one who sees him is left in any doubt of his authority.
Why?
People are easy forget the history of their father.
Before God punished his people, God is like to warn them, give them chance to return, if they still so their way and do not repent to the Lord, the consequence of disobedience will come soon.
How?
Take a chance to know God and let people may know the Lord and turn to God. God is fountain of blessing
