Sing for joy and keep God's statutes

Psalm 132:1-18
David swore an oath to the Lord to find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.
David prayed to the Lord, May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy. The Lord swore an oath to David a sure oath that he will not revoke: I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.
If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne or ever and ever.
This 'royal' psalm reflects the bringing of the Ark to the city and Temple.
v17 points to the future: there is a great king yet to come.
Jarr/Jearim: an abbreviation for Kiriath-jearim, where the Ark was kept for 20 years following its return by the Philistines.
Why?
David had a heart to honor God, the Lord gave words to David.
The Ark contained the record of God's ancient covenant with his people, renewed in his promise of a lasting dynasty to David.
Zion is God's chosen home, his appointed centre for worship, in the city of Jerusalem, seat of kings.
Righteousness is in the Lord, but the Lord gives us the salvation so we may clothe with righteousness.
How?
Worship to the Lord with joy, sing for joy. Keep God's statutes. Is my heart rejoice each day? Turn to the Lord when I have heartships.
