Be humble before the Lord

2 Chronicles 25:14-28
Why do you consult this people's gods, which could not save their own people from your hand? The prophet said to Amaziah.
And in Amaziah's bumptious(proud to an irritating degree) pride he throws down the gauntlet(拋出下戰書) to powerful Israel.
Defeat turns the people against him. It seems that Uzziah, the 'Azariah' of 2 Kings, was made co-regent(攝政). After 29 years on the throne, a conspiracy ends Amaziah's life.
The Chronicler sees the king's defeat and his death as punishment for worshipping the gods of Edom.
Why?
Proud led him downfall. Even forgot the Lord who can conquer the enemy.
How?
Be humble before the Lord, only Him can save us from dead and lost.
