2 Chronicles 34:14-33
Hilkiahthe priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord that had been given thought Moses.
When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes. He gave orders to Hilkah, Ahikam so of Shaphan, Abdon son of Micah, Shapham the secretary and Asiah the king's attendant: Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the remnant in Israel and Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord's anger that is poured out on us because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord.
Why?
During his reign the book of the law(probably Deuteronomy, perhaps in an earlier form) is discovered, and a measure of true repentance follows. But, despite the king's lead, the people's response is too little ad too late to avert judgment.
There are some differences between the account in Kings and Chronicles, mainly in the order of events, but neither writer is primarily concerned with chronology. The real significance of the events lies in what they teach.
Peoples were accustomed to the detestable behavior, so the anger of the Lord still will pour out on this place and will not be quenched.
Found the Book of God reminded them to thought what evil things they had done.
Anyone whose heart was responsive to God's word and humbled himself before the Lord will be saved.
How?
Responsive to the word of God and humble ourselves will be saved.
