2 Chronicles 35:20-27
Josiah would not turn away from Neco king of Egypt, he would not listen to what Neco had said at God's command but went to fight him on the plain of Megiddo
Jeremiah composed laments for Josiah, and to this day all the men and women signers commemorate Josiah in the laments.
Neco was marching north in 609 to help Assyria fight off Babylon. On his way home he deposed廢黜 and deported驅逐出境 Josiahs successor, Johoahaz. But in 605 he was defeated by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon at Carchemish.
Lament: This is not the Bible book of Lamentations; the lament has not been preserved.
Why?
Josiah might be proud or he didn't believe the word of God said by Neco king of Egypt. He won't let foreign army go through his territory.
How?
God's word may tell us through foreigner but not our friends. Peace is better than battle!
