Proverbs 20:1-30
It is a man's honor to avoid strife.
Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?
The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him. -- When I do the righteous things, blessing will be on my children, don't worry about them.
Gold there is and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.
A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.
Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.
The Lord detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.
The lamp of the Lord searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being.
Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being.
Why?
Strife and quarrel should away it, it is meaningless and is trouble, to gain man's honor. To be a prudent and noble man.
Avoid a man who talk too much, away from quarrel and gossip. work diligent and pursue righteous, blessing comes.
Revenge work is belong to the Lord, don't even say I will pay back the wrong.
Cheating and dishonest are detested by the Lord, to be a honest man even lost benefit. The Lord search the spirit of a man, no one can hide from the Lord. inmost being will be seen from the Lord.
How?
Lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel. I hope I can speak knowledge in the right time. Pray to the Lord has this gift.

Many plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails
Proverbs 19:1-29
Everyone is the friend of a man who gives gifts.
A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is his glory to overlook an offense.
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.-- hot-tempered is unchanged.
Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.
Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.
The fear of the Lord leads to life; Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.
A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.
Why?
Most people like gifts so gift giver is welcome. Visit people with gift will be welcome.
My wife is prudent wife, who is from the Lord. Thanks the Lord!
Beware the hot-tempered man, it is uneasy to change it.
Listen to advise of Proverbs and accept instruction of God, in the end I will be wise.
Fear the Lord and rests content lead life and peace.
We may plan many ways or plans, but the Lord's purpose that prevails. The Lord decides which will be success. Let the Lord accomplish it! Pray and rely on Him!
How?
I usually think too much, so time I was lack think about it. may the Lord give me wisdom to make it prosper to face everyday's living. Walk on the right way,be a prudent man.

Crushed Spirit
Proverbs 18:1-24
An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends; and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.
It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice.
It is not good to punish an innocent man, or to flog officials for their integrity.(17:26)
A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.
Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.
A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?
A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.
Don't listen one side present his case only!
A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He is Jesus Christ, may be there is precious one in this world.
Why?
Do not close to the unfriendly person. It is meaningless to take time with him. I have to aware to be a unfriendly man when I don't like it or somehow with unwelcome face.
Do not afraid the wicked man, don't be partial to wicked one, but don't need confront with him directly. Be careful what the word from my mouth.
Don't listen the gossip, but people like to hear it, when I heard it just keep in my heart and stop here.
Sometime give a gift is welcome to most people. Use it to build good relationship with friend or unfamiliar person.
Don't listen one side present his case, so don't easy trust one person's reason or his matter.

Crush spirit is A wounded spirit comes as a result of a re-action to negative words, events, actions, or a violation of your person or rights – a re-action that crushes you, knocks you down and from which you cannot seem to rise. It crushes an area of your life – your spirit – which is quite devastating in how it affects us. It seems we cannot heal ourselves of a wounded spirit. We need someone else to release it in positive, believing prayer.
How?
Pray to the Lord, " Please gives me a sensitive Spirit that I can help others healing from wounded spirit.

There are many ways that we can receive a wounded spirit:
NEGATIVE, CRITICAL WORDS
Someone says something to you that “knocks you flat” and you can’t get over it. Those words have penetrated deeply into your spirit in a hurtful, crushing kind of way.
“The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters” (Proverbs 18:4 ).
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue . . .” (Proverbs 18:21 ).
Words produce either death or life – in those who speak them, and in those who receive them. Marriages – even Christian marriages – are broken by the critical words spoken between a husband and a wife, and vice versa.
“A fool gets into constant fights. His mouth is his undoing! His words endanger him”(Proverbs 18:6 , TLB).
The words we speak penetrate very deeply! The repeating of negative and critical gossip about others is not good:
“The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts”(Proverbs 18:8 , NIV). Those “inmost parts” are his spirit.
SIN
Sin is the curse of humanity! Sin is whatever comes between us and God! It affects our spirit! In Psalm 38 we read of David acknowledging a wounding in his life and spirit:
“Your arrows have pierced me, and Your hand has come down upon me . . . there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly . . . ” (Psalm 38:1-5 , NIV).
“A wounded spirit who can bear?”
David was hurting because of his guilt and consciousness of sin.
“For your sin is an incurable bruise, a terrible wound. There is no one to help you or to bind up your wound and no medicine does any good. All your lovers have left you and don’t care anything about you any more; for I have wounded you cruelly, as though I were your enemy; mercilessly, as though I were an implacable foe; for your sins are so many, your guilt is so great” (Jeremiah 30:12-14 , TLB).
Sin wounds us! When we put sin out of our life (through genuine repentance), our spirit is released to heal.
SEXUAL IMMORALITY
Sexual immorality is a breeder of wounded spirits. Perhaps more people get wounded in this area of human relationships than anywhere else? Every wrong relationship can do damage to our spirit. The Bible separates sexual sins from all other sins (1 Corinthians 6:15-20 ). Christians are joined to the Lord as “one spirit.” Sexual immorality joins us to the body of the other sexual partner. It is spiritual. Sexual immorality affects every part of our being: spiritual, physical, emotional, our conscience and our mentality. It has the power to create another human being “in the image of God.”
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body” (1 Corinthians 6:18 , NIV).
Regarding adultery, the Bible declares:
“But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys his own soul. Wounds and constant disgrace are his lot . . . ” (Proverbs 6:32-35 , TLB).
The physical act has spiritual consequences – a wounded spirit. (Proverbs 7 has more to say on this).
David picked up a wounded spirit as a result of his adultery with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11 and Psalm 51 ). According to his confession in Psalm 51 , David lost so much in his relationship with God because of his adultery. He paid a high price spiritually and he paid a high price physically. His family were also “wrecked” through immorality. David’s son (Amnon) raped David’s daughter (Tamar) (half sister) (2 Samuel 13 ), which led to murder, etc. All in all, a real tragedy of events. It isn’t worth it! (For further reading on this subject, see my book “Counselling & Deliverance”).
SATANIC ATTACK
The thief comes to “steal, kill and destroy” (John 10:10 ). Satan loves to wound our spirit. He knows that when we carry a wounded spirit, we are no real threat to him. In Psalm 143:1-4 (KJV), David is crying to God because “the enemy has persecuted my soul. He has smitten(“bruised and wounded”) my life down to the ground . . . therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate (“laid waste” – Wilson’s; “made numb, stunned, devastated” – Strong’s).”
A wounded spirit brings down. It never lifts us up. Satan knows this. He wants us down! The Good Samaritan is a good example of knowing how to lift up the wounded. He knew what to do. He knew to pour in “the oil and the wine.” Why? He identified with the wounded man’s condition (Luke 10:25-37 ). Samaritans knew what rejection was, as “the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans”(John 4:9 ). The man was restored.
REJECTION FROM LEADERS
As this paper is written in the Christian context, we’ll keep it to Church authorities - and other Christians. We have such high expectations of Leaders that when they fail us, or especially knock us back, or overlook us, it is easy for us to get discouraged and wounded. David experienced that rejection with King Saul (1 Samuel Chapters 18 to 31).
It also happens when Leaders promise certain positions to individuals – and then don’t deliver, or they do not communicate the change of plan. Numbers get wounded when they are encouraged to go through training courses in order to be better prepared for church ministry, but at the end of the training it doesn’t happen. Broken promises lead to broken hearts and wounded spirits. Some have been wounded trying to obey the Lord in the exercising of Spiritual Gifts and been “rebuked” or “cut down” publicly. Those “woundings” are hard to recover from, especially if one is sensitive and shy in the first place. Whatever the conflict or misunderstanding, don’t hold a grudge against Leaders. Pray for them! Give them over to God. Give the hurtful “happening” over to God – release it from your spirit. Get healed of any wounding of spirit. Press on in Jesus!
UNFORGIVENESS
With holding forgiveness from those who have disappointed and hurt us will “lock our spirit into” its wounding. We cannot heal if we do not release the hurt to God. 2 Corinthians 2:1-11 teaches us that if we don’t forgive those who have caused us harm, Satan will take advantage of us. Let’s not be ignorant of him wanting to get his “sticky paws” into wrecking our lives and future ministries that will impact the nations.
No matter how much someone has wounded us, we do have to come to a place of being able to release forgiveness to that person. If we don’t, we will be the one who pays the highest price. We cannot afford to let anyone destroy us (because we can’t or won’t forgive) and therefore can’t heal from the original damage caused.
“A crushed spirit who can bear?” (Proverbs 18:14 , NIV).
In discussing this subject further (in a large group), we discovered some people have suffered a wounded spirit through the following:
BETRAYAL
This is indeed a very hurtful thing to work through, especially a betrayal of confidence. To be betrayed means “to disclose a secret or confidence treacherously; to break a promise, or be disloyal to a person’s trust; to disappoint the expectations of” (Collins).
When the children of Benjamin and Judah sought out David in the wilderness, one of the leading questions he asked them was, “If you come to betray me to my enemies, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it” (1 Chronicles 12:16-17 , KJV). David knew the power and hurt of betrayal, and he guarded against it as much as possible. Jesus warned there would be “many offended, and shall betray one another” (Matthew 24:10 ). The keeping of promises and confidences is very necessary if we do not want to be guilty of wounding our friends.
FALSE ACCUSATIONS
From time to time there are people who, for various reasons, have delight in making false accusations. Sometimes it is because of jealousy, sometimes it is just enjoying seeing one put down; other times ignorant gossip. Many false accusations have no affect upon us, but then there comes one that is “a bit close to the bone.” It is directed at a loved one, or yourself, or your ministry. If we don’t see those false accusations as being what they are – false! – we can take the accusation “on board” and it lodges in our spirit. We get wounded. This is where honesty is so important. We have to be honest with God, ourselves, and other people. If the accusation is false, keep it false. Don’t give room for the enemy to “take us out” because we re-act wrongly. (If the accusation happens to be true, then we need to do something about it).
DIVORCE
This is another “biggie,” especially as it is so rampant in society today. To experience going from one extreme of being so in love with someone that you marry that person, and then to see it all change to the point where they can no longer love and live together, is a great tragedy. It affects the emotions, afflicts the mind, throws the children into turmoil, upsets the wider family and relatives, and changes the course of one’s life. Rejection can become a huge issue. Many hurts are picked up. Attitudes are hardened. Later on, if those woundings are not dealt with and healed, the “baggage” from the broken marriage is carried over to a new relationship. Often the process repeats itself. More hurts and woundings eventuate.
RELATIONSHIPS CUT THROUGH A DEATH
The loss of a close loved one, relative or friend, can be a devastating blow. We all face the losing of someone to the death process. It is a sad fact that many people do not know how to relate to those who are suffering loss and grieving the death of a husband, wife, child, parent, close friend, etc. Our spirit, which is very vulnerable at that time, can be wounded by the words and actions of someone who doesn’t understand what is going on inside the heart of those suffering loss. Sometimes the wounding happens because their close friends say and do nothing – just sitting in silence can sometimes be very hurtful. Other times people talk “rubbish” – or too much - and that can be equally hurtful. We need to be sensitive to the needs of those grieving the death of a loved one. If you’re not sure, Ask! Don’t let your friendship be cut off with those who grieve. Be mindful of the shock and “numbness” they’re experiencing.
HAVING TO ACT AS AN ADULT WHILE STILL A CHILD
This was an interesting discussion. To listen to those who had experienced being the eldest child in a large family and being made to take major responsibility for all the younger brothers and sisters – while they themselves were still so young – brought about a wounded spirit. To expect a tender young life to do what it is not made to do at that stage of their development can only cause damage. That damage is carried through in attitudes that cause hurt in others. “Hurt people hurt people.”
A wounded spirit comes into the lives of those children who are subjected to incest亂倫, prostitution, and other abuses (emotional, mental, physical, sexual, verbal, etc.). Many develop such a poor, low image of themselves that they feel the only way out is suicide. And it is no secret that the numbers of young people committing suicide today is very high!
Here is a prayer you can pray (please pray it out aloud):
“Dear God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know all about my life and circumstances; nothing that has happened to me is unknown to You. I now consciously forgive all those who have spoken negatively and done hurtful things to me. Lord, I place them on Your altar and ask You to bless them.
I now submit all my hurts and woundings to You, and ask You to release my wounded spirit to be healed, in Jesus’ mighty name! I speak to my spirit to come into divine order, that I may rise up again in Your name and know the joy and freedom of being made whole! I thank You, Lord Jesus, that You hear and answer my cry. Right now I accept my healing and give myself afresh to You. Please take over my life and let me live it in abundance to glorify You every day. In Jesus’ name I pray these things, Amen.”
In Conclusion:
I pray you will be aware of these eleven areas that can keep you down through a wounded spirit. If you feel you are suffering from a wounded spirit, seek out someone who is sensitive to the Holy Spirit and knows how to minister healing to you in a loving, compassionate way. Be prepared to forgive those who have (in your eyes) “sinned against you” (Matthew 6:12 , TLB), and then forgive yourself. Don’t tie the hands of God from healing your spirit because you won’t forgive yourself.
Thank God, that in the love of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, people can be healed of a wounded spirit. Life can change for the better when we let Jesus heal all the hurts of the past. If you are aware of having a wounded spirit right now, seek out a Holy Spirit-filled Christian with love and compassion, and ask them to pray healing into your spirit. This is important, as you cannot heal yourself of this. Reach out today. If you are unable to find someone, then please contact us, and we will do what we can to minister that healing to you. God bless you.

Pleasant Words Promote Instruction
Back to: Corners Home >
Teri shares how pleasant words change how a child receives instruction.
“The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction (Prov. 16:21).” This is one of my favorite verses in regards to home schooling and to raising children. It is a verse I need to remind myself of daily. I also have to ask the Lord to help me see the value of pleasant words and to let me be aware of when they can be used. It is easy for me to spot a child's infraction; that comes naturally. It takes the Lord's help to be as conscious of when to use those pleasant words.
Pleasant words are appropriate in discipline situations. Sometimes I wonder what our children must think of us when we have our stern face and stern words on. Have you ever watched and listened to another mother in this mode and thought to yourself, “Look how hard and harsh she is!” Would our children have an easier time responding to our discipline if we had the same discipline but a sweet disposition while doing it? This is not the purpose of this Mom's Corner, though. Rather I want us to consider the value of practicing pleasant words to praise and encourage our children.
Sometimes I am absolutely amazed, at what sounds very “syrupy” sweet to me when I say it, but will bring the biggest, brightest smile to my child. Right now Anna, age six, is diligently working on learning to read and write. When she makes a particular letter well, perhaps a 'p,' I will say, “What a great 'p' that was, Anna!” Her face immediately lights up with pleasure! I can assure you that there are many, many letters on her page that are not made nicely and even this one I am praising is probably not perfect. I feel certain, though, that she is much more motivated to continue working to make her letters nicely by my “pleasant words” than she would be by my criticism of her poorly formed ones.
When we brought our oldest son, now 22, home to school fifteen years ago, he was struggling with his newly acquired reading skills. I had no experience teaching reading and few resources to draw upon for the remedial help he needed. I decided that I would have him read out loud to me for ten minutes a day. I also purposed to praise him highly for the words he read correctly and to patiently help him sound out the words he struggled with, not allowing any criticism or irritation on my lips as I did so.
Unbelievably to me, within just a few short weeks, his reading skills had improved to where he could read almost anything put in front of him. He no longer dreaded reading time as he had before, but he was actually enjoying the stories he could now read for himself.
Pleasant words promote instruction. Isn't instruction our goal in home schooling? We want our children to learn to be Christ-like; we want them to develop godly character, and we desire that they excel educationally as much as possible. Scripture says that pleasant words will help us to these goals because they promote instruction. We can say the exact same words with a sweet voice or with a hard voice, pleasant words or harsh words. What will be the outcome of each? We can also use pleasant words or critical words in most situations. Which will promote the instruction that is the prayer of our hearts for our children?
Gratitude comes under the heading of “pleasant words” in my mind. How I delight in expressions of gratefulness to me and how difficult it can be for me to receive criticism. I am finding this is just as true for my children. My seventeen-year-old daughter thrives on praise and gratitude, being highly motivated by it. Our children need to learn to receive criticism with a proper spirit, and I expect they will have plenty of opportunities for just that. I want to push that unnatural tendency in myself, learning to major on gratitude and praise while “minoring” on the reprimands that do come naturally.
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price (1 Pet 3:3-6).” I wonder how much of this meek and quiet spirit is evidenced by our pleasant words. No matter how hard I try for pleasant words, it is a matter of the Lord changing my heart. “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34b).” I must make this heart change issue an area that I am constantly bringing before my Lord Jesus Christ in prayer and petition. Also, I want to not be satisfied with having a spirit that easily criticizes my children but has difficulty praising them. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose (Phil. 2:13).” I desire to see these negative heart attitudes as sin, confessing them to my children and to my Lord. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9).”
Yes, I have a responsibility to teach and train my children which will involve plenty of opportunities to correct them, but may the joy of my heart be to praise, encourage, and express gratitude to them. May I see the value in these “pleasant words.” I challenge you to evaluate your day-to-day interactions with your children. Are they lop-sided on the critical, hard side or do you find frequent occasions to verbally express your pleasure with those precious children? Pleasant words promote instruction!

Proverbs 11:1-31
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victor sure.
He who puts up security for another will surely suffer but whoever refuses to strike hands in pledge is sage.

If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

Wisdom is found on the lips of discerning
Proverbs 10:1-16
Chatting fool comes to ruin. The mouth of a fool invites ruin.
Hatred stirs up dissension糾紛, but love covers over all wrongs.
Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.
The young man has been faced with the choice and urged to choose wisdom. Now the instruction begins; practical instruction that ranges over every aspect of life.
In this first collection, the sayings set their punch from contrast. The second line, or half, of each saying is the antitheses of the first.
Each proverb is complete in itself, though some are linked by words or themes into series. They reveal sound psychology and accurate observation of life.
They demonstrate the outworking of wisdom and folly in the practical business of living.
Why?
Chatting fool is saying fool words that bring ruin. Be careful before say anything.
I should not told Emily about the scandal of other. It is not good to them and to Emily.
No hatred but with love and righteous judgement to men and matters.
Wisdom comes with discerning, so the careful watch and think it more and detail from different aspect is I needed.
How?

Before speaking be aware who I am speaking to and speak with Love
Proverbs 9:1-18
Invitation of wisdom : Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding
Invitation of Folly: Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious! But little do they know that the dead are there that her guest are in the depths of the grave.
Whoever correct a mocker invites insult or he will hate you; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse; rebuke a wise man and he will love you.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
You are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
Each invites us - empty headed, wayward - to a feast. Wisdom sets life before us. On Folly's menu there is only death.

By wisdom and with wisdom gain prudence; be noble
Proverbs 8:1-21
Your who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
By me kings reign and rulers make law that are just;
By me princes govern and all nobles who rule on earth.
With me are riches and honor enduring wealth and prosperity.
To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior an perverse speech. Fear the Lord is same as to hate evil.
Wisdom calls out to everyone, she cries aloud to the city at the entrance.
Why?
Wisdom here is more than a simple personification: she embodies an aspect of God's own nature. The value of her instruction is beyond any earthly fortune.
I want to be transformed from simple to gain prudence, from foolish to gain understanding. Transform my image of simple man or weak man.
With the wisdom can reign the kingdom and stand firm in my work or career.
By wisdom can earn the respective from others and may preach the gospel to others.
Fear the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, meanwhile, hate the evil behavior and perverse(shrewd,悖) speech.
Be a noble man don't be a poor and foolish man.
How?
Let me by wisdom, with wisdom alone. Make any decision or before my speak, let me say from the perspective of the Lord. Does it good to that man or does it with love, justice and faithfulness in me.
Your who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
By me kings reign and rulers make law that are just;
By me princes govern and all nobles who rule on earth.
