Proverbs 1:1-33
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
How long will you simple ones love your simple ways?
For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease without fear of harm.
For attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight. The purpose of this proverbs.
For giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young. The benefit of wisdom.
Proverbs are by nature generalizations. They state what is generally, not invariably, true. The writers do not deny that there are exceptions. But exceptions are not within the scope of proverbial sayings. For instance, Proverbs states that those who live by God's standards will prosper in the world. This is generally the truth. But it is not an unqualified 'promise'.
Why?
Wisdom in Proverbs is based on reverence for God and obedience to his laws.
Fear the Lord: wholesome awe and respect for God which expresses itself in obedience, reliance on God and deliberate avoidance of evil.
Simple heart is good to serve the Lord, but simple way is same as fool. Don't be a fool, but be a smart and wise man.
How?
Meditate more about the words of the Lord, and extend to other matters, follow the principle of the God's word.
