1 Timothy 5:17-6:2
The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.
Keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others.
The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
Respect each other between master and slaves.
Elder must be carefully chosen, treated with respect and paid for their work. They are especially open to false charges against them.
Timothy must take care to deal fairly in such cases.
V 23 is in parenthesis, a personal note. Timothy is clearly not strong. He needs to take care of himself.
As Christians, slaves are free people - but they are not to drag Christ's name in the mud by turning on their masters
Lay hands on: commission for Christian service.
Why?
Work for the church service like elder should have paid, like the bible says.
Do not hasty in the laying on of hands, sin may transfer to others, so keep us clear and made service to others carefully.
Good things and sins of some are obvious, good deeds cannot remain hidden forever. Do not worry about it and God knows everything.
How?
Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, take care of myself is more important.
