1 Timothy 1:1-11
Not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith.
The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
The law is good if one uses it properly.
We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels.
Why?
Paul was quick to realize how vulnerable they were to wrong teaching.Ten years later his fears had materialized(物化). Apocryphal(杜撰) Jewish legends and family trees were being made the basis of strange teaching. This was wrong approach to the Old Testament law, and Timothy must stop it spreading. The Christian message should result in faith and love and a clear conscience - not idle speculation(推測).
Be careful about false teaching.
How?
The goal of this command is love, love is the basic to Christian. I received the love from Jesus Christ so I have to love others.
