Make requests because of God's great mercy.

Daniel 9:1-19
Daniel pray to the Lord.
Character of the Lord :  the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments.
Consequence : Both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you.
Righteous God : The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.
So I pray to the Lord: We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.
Pray for the name of the Lord: Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.
The date is 538. Babylon has virtually ruled Judah since the Battle of Carchemish in 605. The  70 years captivity spoken of by Jeremiah is almost up, Daniel pleads with God for the return of his people to their homeland.
He is completely one with his people, sharing the blame for sin and his request rests solely on God's mercy.
Why?
Daniel prayed for his people's sins and pleads with God for the return of his people to their home town. Even Daniel is living very well, he is concerning his people and God's people for they bear name of God.
Pray for the country and for the people in the land of I am living.
How?
Pray for the city and people where I am living.
