Daniel 7:1-14
Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed.
The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. It is Babylon, has Nebuchadnezzar particular in mind.
And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth.
Another beast, one that looked like a leopard. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule. The Greek Empire of Alexander the Great. On its death, divided among his four generals. Seleucus found a dynasty in Egypt. The other two kingdoms were Greece and Asia minor.
The fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
There before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
The ten horns equates with the toes of the images in chapter 2. though the precise identification has been much debated.
Daniel's first vision is pictorial representation history.
Again there are four successive empires, and then kingdom of God is established.
Why?
Have vision of future is the gift from the Lord, but it have to suffer the terror and worry of future. But vision is the way of God shows to people that give honor to the Lord. There are suffering and frightening ,victims in the world, finally man of God will rule over all.
How?
Gos is in reign in history. Man of God will judge this world at end day.
