Jeremiah 8:1-21
But my people do not know the requirements of the Lord.
How can you say,"We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely.
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped.
Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all.
The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved. Since my people are crushed, I am crashed; I mourn, and horror grips me.
The people refuse to repent. They are aided and abetted(教唆) by religious smooth-talkers: the scribes, the 'wise' to whom they turned for advice, the prophets and the priests. All alike are motivated by self-interest.
Why?
God felt sorrow for his people do not repent and do not know the requirement of the Lord.
What is wise? It is not the knowledge , not the laws or the church, but the heart fear the Lord and obey God's word.
Wise man will be put to shame for their proud.
How evil a man? How harder a man, even suffered so many trouble, their heart do not turn to the Lord.
How?
Be aware of the warning of the Lord, repent and turn to the Lord.
