Jesus is the King Matthew 1

 Matthew 1:1-17

This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Five women are written here.

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab

Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth

David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife.

and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.

Dynasty of the true King

The two lists are in reverse order and give a different set of names from David onwards. The point, for Matthew, is to show Jesus as the true King, descended from the royal line of David, as God has promised. He may be listing the heirs to the throne, while Luke lists Joseph's particular line.

Matthew's list is stylized and abbreviated to fit his pattern: 14 names from Abraham to David; 14 from David to Jechoniah: 14 from Jechoniah to Jesus. Fourteen is 2x7, and the number 7 signified perfection, 'Six sevens' are past and the 'seventh seven' is about to begin. Matthew's list has two turning-points: David (the start of the monarchy) and the exile (it end). His purpose is to establish a base for what will follow: his great theme that in Jesus scripture is fulfilled.

It is possible that 14 is the numerical value of the name David, since the letters/consonants of the Hebrew alphabet served also as numbers:d(4)+v(6)+d(4)=14.

馬太不提歸回，因爲還是 對神而言不是自由住在自己的房子，有吃有喝，而是心靈得自由才是真正的歸回。只有耶穌才能帶給人真自由。

人有遐疵，喇合是妓女，他瑪的事是家醜，耶穌進入罪人中，稱道德有遐疵的人當中成為我們的救贖。因爲主愛我們。
