Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter?

2 Samuel 2:12-32
Abner said to Joab, "Let the young men arise and compete before us."
Then Abner called to Joab,"Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter?"
Joab said,"As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely the men would not have given up the pursuit of their brothers until the morning."
Joab were missing 19 men from David's servant, but the servants of David's men had struck down of Benjamin 360 of Abner's men.
Abner did not intend to kill Asahel. But the butt was sharp to that it would stick in the ground, and the blow proved fatal.

Why?
An attempt to settle the issue by representative single combat at Gibeon is inconclusive, and full-scale civil war follows.
A joke or a compete led a battle and brought bitter. The end of war is our loved one lost their life and property.
There is peace in Jesus Christ only.
How?
Sword shall not devour forever, it has to be ceased. The end of war is bitter.
