Malachi 1:6-2:9
If I am a father, where is my honor? If I am a master, where is my fear? says the Lord.
You say 'How have we polluted you?' By saying that the Lord's table may be despised.
For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.
My covenant with Levi was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him. It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name.
True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips.
The lips of a priest should guard knowledge and people should seek instruction from his mouth.
Why?
Because the heart of priest to the Lord is turned away.
Israel enjoys a unique Father-child relationship with God. God is in a special sense their Lord. But not even the priests have honoured him.
The rule for the sacrifices is the very best for God.
It would be better to close the Temple and stop the sacrifices altogether than show such contempt.
How?
As a ministry today in church, what should I do is set life apart from the world, guard knowledge and be sought instruction from my mouth.
