God is my way and my strength

Jeremiah 41:1-18
And they went on, stopping at Geruth Kimhan near Bethlehem on their way to Egypt to escape the Babylonians. They were afraid of them because Ishmael son of Nethaniah had killed Gedalah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed as governor over the land.
After three months Gedaliah ignoring warnings, is assassinated by the king of Ammon's hit-man. Fearing reprisals from Babylon, the people make ready to escape to Egypt.
Why?
There were hate mind and patriotism existed in some Israelite when their country was broken and appointed king by Babylonian governor the land.
Somehow patriotism does not good to all people and his country, but the way should be follow the way of the Lord.
My wisdom is not enough but God is my way and my strength.
How?
Listen to the word of the Lord in stead of  our own strength and wisdom.

The way of the Lord shows to us

Jeremiah 40:1-16
Jeremiah was freed from chain among all the captives. The commander gave him provisions and a present and let him go. So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were left behind in the land.
When all the army officers and their men who were still in the open country heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam as governor over the land and had put him in charge of the men in the land and who had not been carried into exile to Babylon, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah.
Gedaliah son of Aikam did not believe Ishmael is to take his life.
Chapter 40-44 focus on those left behind when the rest are taken into exile. Gedaliah makes a good start as governor. With Jerusalem in ruins he makes his headquarters at Mizpah, 8km to the north-west. Those who had fled before the army, escaping to neighboring countries, return and they gather in a good harvest, after the hungry days of occupation.
Why?
Somehow under captive could be freed is good to live, but there are some people insist their way and do not listen to the word of the Lord. They discard the good life in Mizpah, and choose to escape to Egypt be a slave.
Jeremiah was freed from chain, and he won the respect from king of Babylonian and command gave him present as the Lord said to him.
How?
Evenything happened has the way of the Lord, do not try to against the way of the Lord, but obey and follow God's word and his way is the best way to us.

Fulfill my words against this city

Jeremiah 39:1-18
Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given these orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard: Take him and look after him; don’t harm him but do for him whatever he asks.
While Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him: “Go and tell Ebed-Melek the Cushite, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words against this city—words concerning disaster, not prosperity. At that time they will be fulfilled before your eyes. But I will rescue you on that day, declares the Lord; you will not be given into the hands of those you fear. I will save you; you will not fall by the sword but will escape with your life, because you trust in me, declares the Lord.’"
Jeremiah's terrible vision becomes a reality. God's warnings finally give way to judgment. God does not lose sight of individuals.
Ebed-melech's life is saved. And the Babylonian king takes thought for the prophet. So Jeremiah is the only one to have any say in his own future. Offered a pace of honor at the Babylonian court, he chooses instead to throw in his lot with the have-nots, let behind in the land of Judah. 他反而選擇與無家可歸的人一起.
Why?
The word of God through Jeremiah said is becomes reality. King of Judah and his official were killed and lost their honor. But for Jeremiah trust in the Lord so the Lord saved Jeremiah and return from the court of guard.
Jeremiah have freedom to anywhere and may have what he wants, but he choose live among his people, they are poor.
God's word is worthy to trust and obey. Because God's word is the power and has sovereignty.
Change my way, change my mind and change my comfortable situation to be a good solider of the Lord.
How?
Listen and change myself to be a good follower of Christ.

Obey God's word is the right way

Jeremiah 38:1-28
Then the officials said to the king, "This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city. He is in your hands, king Zedekiah answered. "The king can do nothing to oppose you." So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah.
Zedekiah questions Jeremiah again. Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, "If I give you an answer, will you not kill me? Even I did give you counsel, you would not listen to me."
The next move is to the muddy bottom of the courtyard well, where he would have died but for Ebedmelech's appeal to the king.
Why?
God's word is oppose to the mind of men and officials in Jerusalem, so they wanted to kill Jeremiah. They wanted to protect their land and city, but they did not listen to the word of the Lord. So God will destroy them and oppose them.
Zedekiah is a king but he can do nothing to oppose his officials, he has lost his sovereignty. But he still like to know the way of the Lord arranged to him.
How?
Useless king does not has him way and mind insist walk on the right way, but  changed his way and do nothing good.

People like to hear good news

Jeremiah 37:1-21
King Zedekiah, neither he nor his attendants nor the people of the land paid any attention to the words the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
That's not true! Jeremiah said. "I am not deserting to the Babylonians." But Irijah would not listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials. They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.
Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, “Is there any word from the Lord?”  “Yes,” Jeremiah replied, “you will be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.”
Zedekiah is king, the year 588, and Jerusalem is temporarily reprieved from the besieging Babylonians. Jeremiah's counsel to surrender to an enemy from whom there will be no escape lands from him in his deepest trouble yet. Setting out to inspect his property at Anathoth he is arrested as a deserter, beaten and shut up in a cellar. An appeal to the king, who is anxious to know God's word but lacks faith and courage to act on it, wins him a move to the place courtyard, but he remains in close custody on a daily ration of bread as long as supplies last.
Why?
To be a prophet of the Lord deliver God's message to people, but they do not listen and angry with Jeremiah for he said the truth, which is they unlike message, they even though Jeremiah is deserved to Babylonians.
King Zedekiah saved Jeremiah from official's prison, for he want to hear some message from the Lord, but did not really like to listen and obey God's word.
Is there any word from the Lord? People like to hear some news.
How?
Listen to the word of God and obey his command. There is no good news always, the good news is Jesus is our savior, trust in Jesus will be saved.

But not even he has power to destroy the message or prevent its fulfillment.

Jeremiah 36:1-32
Jehoiakim burns Jeremiah' scroll.
So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and while Jeremiah dictated(聽寫) all the words the Lord had spoken to him, Baruch wrote them on the scroll. Read them to all the people of Judah who come in from their towns. Perhaps they will bring their petition before the Lord and will each turn from their wicked ways, for the anger and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.
Even though Elnathan, Delaiah and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.
So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.
This one of the most vivid and dramatic chapters in the whole Bible. The year is 605/4. Jeremiah is banned from the Temple. But the word of God cannot be stifled. The message is written: the prophet hides his timer; and then within a single day it is read aloud three times - to the people fasting in the Temple, to the palace officials, and to the king himself. Jehoiakim may burn the scroll, but not even he has power to destroy the message or prevent its fulfillment. Patiently, Jeremiah and secretary Baruch write the words again.
Why?
God's word is told to people, official and the king. But the king did not listen and burned the scroll. So how hard of king Jehoiakim was, and he arose God's wrath on him and his kingdom.
Some officials heard God's word and fear the Lord, so God has mercy on them, let them be captured and exiled to Babylon, and lived there. They are survived.
Scroll could be destroyed but God's word wouldn't be destroyed.
How?
God's word will be fulfilled and not one can stop it. Trust in the Lord and fear his wrath.

Spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me

Jeremiah 35:1-19
During the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
Go and tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?’ declares the LordJehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.
Then Jeremiah said to the family of the Rekabites, “This is what the LordAlmighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have obeyed the command of your forefather Jehonadab and have followed all his instructions and have done everything he ordered.’ Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab will never fail to have a descendant to serve me.’”
Chapter 35, 36 take us back 10 years to the earlier siege of Jerusalem in the reign of King Jehoiakim. The Rechabites, pledged to abstain from wine and to a nomadic lifestyle, were descendants of Jehonadab, who took God's part against the Baal-worshipers in 2 Kings 10:15-23.
Fear of the invading army brings them to the city, where their obedience to a pledge made 200 years before puts the people of God to shame.
Why?
Compare between the descendent of Israel and Jehonadab, they obey their forefather's word so the Lord blesses them. But Israelite did not obey God's command, the sever disaster is bring to them.
How?
God's word is my way and my hope, trust in Him instead of my strength. Take easy for the Lord is my shepher.

Owners cheat on slaves

Jeremiah 34:1-22
So all the officials and people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their male and female slaves and no longer hold them in bondage. They agreed, and set them free. But afterward they changed their minds and took back the slaves they had freed and enslaved them again.
Therefore this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom to your own people. So I now proclaim ‘freedom’ for you, declares the Lord—‘freedom’ to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.
The date is still 588/7. After receiving God's message, King Zedekiah issues an order to free all Jewish slaves, perhaps hoping this will win God's favor.
The law said Jewish slaves  should be freed after six years, but the practice had lapsed. Now the owners free their slaves but go back on their under-taking to make this permanent. The slaves are forced into slavery again - and Go condemns the owners as law-breakers.
Why?
Since the law is announced to free their Jewish slave after 6 years but they did not practice it. Now before the enemy Babylonians, king make this order and the owners of slaves made covenant before the Lord, but afterward they changed their mind and forced slaves back. So it made God's angry and they will be freedom to fall by  the sword, plague and famine.
People see the nearby profit and gain the benefit, but they forget the promise and justice.
How?
Do not gain the benefit and forget the justice, God knows what we done. Take care the poors and needy people.

God's unbreakable promise

Jeremiah 33:1-26
The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.
In those days and at that time  I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line;  he will do what is just and right in the land.
In those days Judah will be saved  and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which  it will be called:  The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel, nor will the Levitical priests ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.
Jeremiah is still being held prisoner by King Zedekiah, as in the previous chapter. The theme is once again future restoration.
Where God has torn down, he will rebuild. Joy and prosperity will return and an ideal king will rule. This will happen as surely as night follows day according to God's ordering.
Why?
God's promises are never changed, for God's love he torn down and will rebuild it.
There is Jesus Chris, righteous branch sprout from David's line will be sit on the throne of David forever.
How?
World will changed but God's words will be stand forever. Follow God's word and obey his commands.

Make an everlasting covenant with them

Jeremiah 32:26-44
I am the Lord of all mankind, is anything too hard for me?
They turn their backs to me and not their faces; though I taught them again and again they would not listen or respond to discipline.
I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.
As I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them. Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, because I will restore their fortunes, declares the Lord.
In answer God outlines his immediate, and his ultimate purpose for the nation.
Baruch, Jeremiah's secretary, makes his first appearance in verse 12. He comes to the fore in chapters 36 and 45.
Why?
God's angry is reasonable for the people of Israel and Judah makes evil things and arouse God's angry and wrath. God have to clear all the detestable things from this land, For this land is belong to the Lord and it is the promised land from the Lord. God makes his name be Holy.
Make an everlasting covenant with them: throught Jesus and Holy Spirit, God makes new covenant with us in the heart. Make new relatioship between each one of Christian and the Lord.
How?
God is faithful, have mercy and righteousness. Fear his Holy Name.

Reward each person according to their conduct

Jeremiah 32:1-25
Jeremiah prayed to the Lord, great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to the ways of all mankind; you reward each person according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve.
See how the siege ramps are built up to take the city. Because of the sword, famine and plague, the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians who are attacking it. What you said has happened, as you now see. And though the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians, you, Sovereign Lord, say to me, But the field with silver and have the transaction witnessed.
It is 588: Jeremiah is under siege and Jeremiah's home town. Anathoth, in enemy hands. Cousin Hanamel is some optimist, coming to the imprisoned prophet to try to sell land at a time like this!
Amazingly, Jeremiah buys - and his purchase shouts the message: 'God has a future for Judah. 'Everyone in the city must have heard about it. Jeremiah acts under orders from God; only afterward does he admit his puzzlement.
In answer God outlines his immediate, and his ultimate purpose of the nation.
Why?
Jeremiah is totally obey God's order to do everything, even he was under seige, he purchased the field of his cousin. And the land is under the enemy.
But Jeremiah lives without himself but for God only. No matter what situation he is or under prison. He is a real God's prophet.
God is amazing Lord and Jeremiah is amazing to listen to the word of the Lord.
How?
Learn from Jeremiah, live for the Lord only.

The days are coming

Jeremiah 31:23-40
Instead, everyone will die for their own sins; whoever eats sour grapes - their own teeth will be set on edge.
The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people"
The days are coming "when this city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hannel to the Corner Gate. The whole valley where dead bodies and ashes are thrown, and all the terraces out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far as the corner of the Horse Gate, will be holy to the Lord.
And a new covenant will replace the old one made at Sinai, which they have broken. This time God will remake them from within, giving them the power to do his will.
It is the Holy Spirit's work, through Christ to 'write God's laws' on the hearts of all believers.
Why?
God made a new covenant through Jesus Christ, old old was broken, new one will be write on heart of each believer. It is the work of Holy Spirit, it is the gift of Christ to us.
The days are coming, the salvation to all people are coming, turn heart to the Christ and believe in his name. This is the good news to all men on the earth.
Everyone has to bear his own sin, for what they have done, not excuse not escape to the judgment of that Day before the Lord.
How?
Fear the Lord and honor his holy name. God is my hope and my strength and my way.

Hear the word of the Lord,

Jeremiah 31:1-22
Hear the word of the Lord, you nations; proclaim it in distant coast lands: He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.
For the Lord will deliver Jacob and redeem them from the hand of those stronger than they.
Retrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded, declares the Lord.
How long will you wander, unfaithful Daughter Israel? The Lord will create a new thing on earth - the woman will return to the man.
The words of Jeremiah here, like those of Isaiah, have a short-term and long-term future significance. He is talking of the actual return from exile, yet there is more to be fulfilled.
The writers of the New Testament see in Jesus Christ that full realization of Jeremiah's prophecy. It is the Holy Spirit's work, through Christ, to 'write God's laws' on the hearts' of all believers.
Why?
The Lord will have mercy to his people in the near and future.
It stimulates us that we should obey God's word, for his love endure forever.
For our work will be rewarded, the Lord deliver Jacob and redeem us, who is Jesus Christ have done for us.
How?
Hear the word of the Lord! Proclaim his holy name everyday in every place.

In that day, no longer will foreigners enslave them

Jeremiah 30:1-24
In that day,’ declares the Lord Almighty,  ‘I will break the yoke off their necks and will tear off their bonds;   no longer will foreigners enslave themInstead, they will serve the Lord their God   and David their king,  whom I will raise up for them. “‘So do not be afraid, Jacob my servant;  do not be dismayed, Israel,’ declares the Lord.
I will surely save you out of a distant place    your descendants from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and security,  and no one will make him afraid.
This is what the Lord says: “‘I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents  and have compassion on his dwellings; the city will be rebuilt on her ruins  and the palace will stand in its proper placeFrom them will come songs of thanksgiving  and the sound of rejoicing.
The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In days to come  you will understand this.
At the nation's darkest hour, comes a message of hope. When it looks like total extinction. God promises his people (the whole nation, northern and southern kingdoms) a future. They will be saved and restored. The exiles will return rejoicing to their homeland.
Why?
God's angry so huge because of their sins are too heavy and many. So it will not turn back until it fully accomplishes the purposes of God's heart.
God asked Jeremiah write down what God says, let the Israel know the future and vision of hope, when the day come, they will understand God's love and word.
God's sons will be disciplined for the Lord loves him,
How?
It is pain when discipline comes but it is good to us, for we are sons of the Lord.

Hear the word of the Lord

Jeremiah 29:1-32
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carriedinto exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:
Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decreaseAlso, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
“words that I sent to them again and again by my servants the prophets. And you exiles have not listened either,” declares the LordTherefore, hear the word of the Lord, all you exiles whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
The exiles to whom Jeremiah writes are the captives deported with King Jehoachin, among them Ezekiel.
Jeremiah advises the exiles to settle down and live a normal life; the exile will last 70 years. Then they will return. But even from Babylon his enemies try to stir up trouble for him.
Why?
The exile to Babylon is the judgment to Israelite, but exile was blessed fro they are the chosen one. 70 years later they will return to Jerusalem, so the Lord let them live normal life.
Hear the word of the Lord is the best and only way to survive on the world.
Mary and increase the number there: for when they return to Jerusalem they have more people to settle down in the land.
How?
Hear the word of the Lord with all my heart. It is the only way to live and prosper in my life.

Be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true

Jeremiah 28:1-17
But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true.
This is what the Lord says: You have broken a wooden yoke, but in its place you will get a yoke of iron.
Then Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet,"Listen, Hananiah! The Lord has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies. I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord." In the 7th month of that same year, Hananiah the prophet died.Hananiah claiming to have God's message, flatly contradicts Jeremiah breaks the yoke and tells the people what they want to hear. But time proves the truth of Jeremiah's words.
Why?
Any prophet who falsely claims to speak for God is under sentence of death.
For God is holy and everyone should fear the Lord.
True or false will be verified by the time, so say the truth will be good.
How?
God is the Lord and righteousness, so his servant should be honest and say the truth, for we are his sons.

People likes the good news but it is false prophecy

Jeremiah 27:1-22
Judah and Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre and Sidon will serve Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar; I will make even the wild animals subject to him.
Any nation will bow its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live there.
Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, 'You will not serve the king of Babylon. I have not sent them, declares the Lord.
It is 597. The Babylonians have taken the first captives from Jerusalem and placed King Zedekiah on the throne. But the Babylonian king has troubles at home, and in the small nations to the west, including Judah, revolt is in the air.
Jeremiah walks the streets of the city wearing a wooden yoke in token of submission to Babylon. Only by servitude can Judah and  the nations escape destruction.
It was not a popular message, and provoked a head-on clash(正面衝突) with the false prophets.
Why?
King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar was servant of the Lord, God allowed he take over all the nations in that period.
Wearing wooden yoke means to be slave under Babylon. But people don't like this true message, people and kings like good message, but it is false prophecy.
How?
God's word is not always good news but bad news to a man. But God loves us is the truth, discipline is needed to God's loved children.

As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whteve you think is good and right

Jeremiah 26:1-24
Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word. Perhaps they will relent and not bring on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.
But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, 'You must die! why do you prophesy in the Lord's name that this house will be like Shiloh.'
As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whteve you think is good and right. Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.
Furthermore, Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, and so he was not handed over to the people to be put to death.
The date is 609, when King Jehoiakim's reign began, or soon after. The situation has likes with chapter 7. It was one of those times when it is dangerous to declare the plain truth of God, and Jeremiah's straight speaking in the Temple almost cost him his life, The pronouncement that continued disobedience would lead to the destruction of the Temple so enraged the priests and prophets that they wanted him dead. But the name of God still countered for something among the rulers and people. Uriah known only from this passage was less fortunate. The support of a court official, Ahikam saved the day for Jeremiah.
Why?
Some people resisit God's word even the priests. But there were some one listen to the word of God.
Jeremiah under the life pressure, but he insist says the word of God, do not fear his danger , who devote his life to the Lord.
How?
To be a servant of the Lord, honestly obey the word of God instead get the delight of men.

The cup of God's wrath

Jeremiah 25:15-38
The cup of God's wrath.
Jeremiah took the cup from the Lord's hand and made all the nations to whom he sent me drink it.
When they drink it, they will stagger and go mad because of the sword God will send among them.
The God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit, and  fall to rise no more because of the sword I will send among you. But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, 'This what the Lord Almighty says: You must drink it! See I am beginning to bring disaster  on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished?
Weep and wail, you shepherds; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For your time to be slaughtered has come; you will fall and be shattered like fine pottery.
Why?
When the judgment is coming no one can escape from God's wrath.
The leader of church, the minister of the Christian fellowship, be aware that care the word we say and what we are doing. The Lord Almighty looking from heaven, He knows our heart.

But you did not listen to me

Jeremiah 25:1-1 Coming invasion
Jeremiah the prophet said to all the people of Judah and to all those living in Jerusalem:
But you did not listen to me,” declares the Lord, “and you have aroused my anger with what your hands have made, and you have brought harm to yourselves.”
I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin.
This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
The year is 605, when Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon routed the Egyptians at Carchemish. For 23 years Jeremiah has been repeating God's message, and still the people remain unmoved. Now he tells them that the city will fall and they will serve the Babylonians for 70 years in exile.
The judgment of God will also fall on the pagan nations who so richly deserve it and on Babylon itself.
Why?
But you did not listen to me so the judgment and destruction came to people of Judah.
Even the enemy could be God's servant to serve the Lord and let God's people be trained and turn to the Lord.
God is full of mercy, even he destroy the people  of Judah, but there is time limit, 70 years. His people will return to their home land.
How?
Obey God's word and be aware there is only the Lord I have to fear and worship. God is my hope and my salvation.

Two baskets of figs show the way of God prepared

Jeremiah 23:23-24:10
Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
You must not mention a message from the Lord's again, because each one's word becomes their own message. So you distort the words of the living God.
Vision of two baskets of figs, one is good and another is bad. Good one means the exiled people God will be  with them, but the bad one is those who stay in Judah will suffer sword, famine and plague. Shows the way of God prepared.
With such a message, it is not surprising that Jeremiah encountered bitter hatred from the priests and prophets - as Jesus did.
The date of Jeremiah's vision of the two baskets of figs in front of God's Temple is some time after 597. The exiles are the cream of God's people. Ezekiel was among these first captives; Daniel and his friends, were in Babylon earlier still.
And God is shaping a future for them. For those who remain in Judah there is no future but destruction. Yet through Jeremiah God still perseveres(持之以恆) with his bad figs.
Why?
Do not mention a message from the Lord's because it have to careful to acknowledge it is very important matter. We can't be a liar before the Lord.
God knows what says on their mouth, all of us have to face the judge in front of the Lord at the last day.
There is two way, one is prosper another one is destruction, it is the way God prepared, it is not the way people likes.
How?
Knowing and mediating heart of the Lord and understand the way of the Lord.

The Lord Our Righteous Savior is his name

Jeremiah 23:1-22
The days are coming,” declares the Lord   “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely   and do what is just and right in the land.  This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior. He is Jesus Christ.
They will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ Then they will live in their own land.
Both prophet and priest are godless;  even in my temple I find their wickedness, declares the Lord.
Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you;    they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds,    not from the mouth of the Lord.
The government  and religious leaders alike a stinging rebuke, Misrule , and the lies pronounced in God's name, will not go unpunished.
Then comes a wonderful promise. One day God will set on the throne a king of his own choice. The deliverance from exile will put the old exodus from Egypt into the shade.
Verse 9-40 address the prophets. Those in the northern kingdom had served Baal. But in Judah the prophets are all as bad as the people of Sodom and Gomorah.
Why>
Prophet should say the word of God, when they deliver their own word, they are not prophet of God but lier to people.
Be awre all servant of the Lord, do what is right and careful to teach people by God's truth. Do not say the 'peace' only but rutn their heart to the Lord. Deliver good news of Jesus Christ is their savior.
How?
I am a servant of the Lord, so there is not my word but only the word of the Lord will be deliver to others.
