Jeremiah 21:1-22:9
I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death. Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives.
This is what the Lord says to you, house of David: Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of the oppressors the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done.
People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another, "Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city? And the answer will be : Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and have worshiped and served other gods.
The year 587, when Jerusalem was under siege in Judah's final struggle with Babylon King Zedekiah turns to the prophet, hoping for a word of comfort, another miraculous reprieve. But none is forthcoming: God says defeat is certain. The only hope lies in surrender.
The story of Jerusalem's fall is told in 2 Kings 25 and 2 Chronicles 36
Why?
King of Judah hope God may save them again but this time God show them the way surrender to Babylonians is the only way to live. For they have done evil and did not care the oppressors and needed people.
The story of Jerusalem will be talk by foreigner and other people, they will know why God forsake them. For they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and have worshiped other gods.
How?
Obey the command of the Lord, worship the only God with all my strength, my heart and all my mind.
