Hosea 11:1-12
The Lord loved Israelite and out of Egypt God called his son, but the more God called Israel the further they went from Him.They did not realize it was the Lord healed them, taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms.
God led Israel with cord of human kindness with ties of love; God lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.
My people are determined to turn from me. Even if they call to the Most High he will be no means exalt them. Though they call them to the One on high, None at all exalts Him
How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim?
My heart is changed within me; all my compassion is aroused.
The Lord changed his heart, changed what we deserved. For He is God, not man- the Holy One among us.
They will follow the Lord; he will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west.
Admah: Meaning: earth. This is the name of one of the five cities of the valley of Siddim (Gen. 10:19). It was destroyed along with Sodomand Gomorrah (19:24; Deut. 29:23). It is supposed by some to be the same as the city of Adam of Josh. 3:16, the name of which still lingers in Damieh, the ford of Jordan
Zeboiim: meaning and etymology and Hebrew roots. The little towns outside of Sodom and Gomorroh, which were burned up.
Why?
How sad was the Lord saw his son Israelite went away from Him, even He called them more.
This chapter let us see right into the infinitely loving parent-heart of God. All down the ling years of history, from Egypt on, and despite all he has done for them, Israel has rejected God's love.
Yet God still shrinks from destroying them. He is torn between love and justice, neither of which can be denied. This is the pain he took to himself in the cross of Christ.
How?
How precious the everlasting love of Jesus Christ. He is the Lord, our God with full of love and compassion.
