Hosea 6:1-11
Come, let us return to the Lord, He has torn us to pieces us he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises he will appear.
Ephraim, Judah, Your love is like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears.
For I desires mercy, not sacrifice and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings.
Like Adam, they have broken the covenant- they were unfaithful to me there. Gilead is a city of wicked men, stained with footprints of blood. As marauder掠奪者 lie in ambush for a man, so do bands of priests. I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel.
Why?
Suffering turns the people to God again. But there is no deep or long-term change. Their 'love' evaporates like dew in the hot sun. It is lasting love and real knowledge of him that God looks for.
Jesus picks up the important statement that God wants his people's love, not placatory sacrifices.
Priests have turned butcher屠夫 at the heart of the nation's religion, at Shechem, there is intrigue詭計 and murder.
The Lord want the everlasting love and real knowledge of him. The real knowledge of him has to be testified through testimony and trial.
How?
Real love of the Lord exists in our daily life, shows in where we are. Let us press on to acknowledge him.
