You will shepherd my people Israel

2 Samuel 5:1-16
All the elder of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a compact with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
We are your own flesh and bloodYou will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.
The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion, the City of David.
David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David, He built up the area around it, from the supporting terraces inward. Because the Lord Almighty was with him
And David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
The writer makes it clear that David is no usurper, God has given him his title to the throne; a fact recognized by Saul, by Abner and finally by the whole nation.
Although part of Jerusalem fell to Judah at the conquest, the fortress itself had never been taken. The Jebusites had some ground for their boast that a garrison of blind men and cripples could hold it. But they underestimated David.
Jerusalem was the first-rate choice of capital. It was centrally situated, tribally neutral, had a distinguished pre-history from Abraham's time and could, therefore, provide the 12 tribes with a unifying center. It was held by Judah until Nebuchadnezzar destroyed it 400 years later.
Why?
God helped David to be king over Israel, not only his people in Israel, but the king of Hiram sent a message to him.
Jebusites were boasted garrison and their ground of the city, for God’s help David gets the city of David.
王是人民的牧者,不是控制,而是照顧百姓。
David did not pursue to be a king of Israel, but people come to David and hope he be king of Israel
People look Christians are weak, but our weak is our way to be strong, and let the Lord support us. This is a different concept with common people.
Why move the capital to Jerusalem? For Jerusalem was occupied by Jebusites for a long time. If David chose Hebron as the capital of Israel, which will be though as king of Judah. If capital is Jerusalem where is not belong to any tribe, this new nation beyond each tribe.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, for Hiram is a famous and big country in that period. Hiram came and sent gifts, so David knew God had established him as king over Isreal.
David has another 11 sons, plus last 6 sons and daughters, so David's family has numerous member. So the Lord blesses church not only for someone but for God's family. We should beyond our branches or groups in churches, but be a united church of the Lord. And let the Christian become much more.
How?
Let me be more like a shepherd of my stuff and my brothers and sisters in my church.
