I took you from the pasture, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel.

2 Samuel 7:1-17
After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth.  And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning.
‘The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you:  When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’”
God will not allow David to fulfill his dream of building the Temple - that is for his son, a man of peace, not a warrior. But the disappointment is followed by a promise that goes way beyond anything David could have asked: no wonder his response is a great outpouring of love and praise. He may not build a house for God, but God will build him a house - a dynasty - which will be 'forever'.
Why?
God was blessed by the Lord and all enemies were not come to bother him, so David thought about the Lord, his living place is a tent. This is the love and caring to the Lord.
But David is a warrior, God did not allow David to build a Temple for Him.
But God promised David to build a dynasty for him and which will be forever. And God will punish them as His son.
It is the Lord's grace raised David from shepherd to a king, be a leader of a nation.
It is the Lord's grace raised me from a little man to be a manager of a company.

神為David建立家室,比David為神建立家室更重要。God helps David build a home of Spirit is more important than build a Temple. 人的屬靈生命比我們為神做工重要The life of Spirit grow up is more important than we do something for the Lord.
It is not our plan for the Lord, but we should know the plan of the Lord and work with the Lord.

How?
I humble my self and give honor to the Lord.  God is my savior and my strength.
