Be quiet and Inquired of the Lord,

2 Samuel 5:17-25
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold.
David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”
So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.”
Once more the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim;  so David inquired of the Lord, and he answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”  So David did as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon[ to Gezer.
Why?
When Philistine knew David has been a king over Israel, they went up and tried to defeat David, that they may do the same thing as Saul's period.
David is not Saul, David will inquire the Lord, and twice David did.
God always doing the new things, twice answers to David are not the same way to defeat Philistines.
Did as the Lord commanded is the best way to defeat an enemy. Actually, it is the Lord has gone out in front of David.
不能坐視以色列愈來愈強大。利乏因谷是戰略要地。
面對敵人的方法
1. stronghold, 大衛可以安靜自己的地方。大衛也是打仗出身，他不憑血氣出戰。我們居住的環境忙碌，我們需要讓自己安靜，親近神。
2. Pray to the Lord. 第一次正式攻擊，第二次從背後攻擊。地方一樣，但是時間不一樣、敵人不一樣。第二次如果沒有問，靠自己經驗，可能失敗。不可依靠經驗
在這戰爭的危險場合，兩次神都走在我們前面。大衛只是去收成果。神是為我們開路的先鋒。
我們的牧者耶穌也走在我們前面。
神允許大衛有敵人。非力士人一直是以色列的外患，神要以色列人依靠神。如今神允許撒旦存在，讓我們學習常常依靠神。非利士人看來是外患，卻藉這次收復掃羅失地。雖然戰爭主動來來臨，卻是神的恩典，得回失地。
How?
Inquire the Lord, and follow God's command, we are not along, but God goes out in front of us.
