Descendants of Israel and Jesus Christ

Chronicles 1:34-54
Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel.
Abraham, Isaac, Israel; descendants of Ishmael and Esau narrow down to the father of the nation.
Why?
The writer he writes with the writers of Samuel and Kings the conviction that the key to the nation's peace and prosperity lies in obedience to God. To disobey is to court disaster. But he also has themes of his own, particularly:

• true worship (focused on the Temple)
• and true kingship (the family-line of David)

The two come together in his account of David and Solomon, where he concentrates far more on the Temple than on other aspects of their reigns.
How?
We are the descendants of Jesus Christ in spirit.
