This chapter is not paralleled elsewhere.
The Chronicler is stressing the whole nation's support for David, so he tells how Saul's own kinsmen went over to him, and describes the warriors from Gad as so eager to join him that they crossed the River Jordan when it was in spate.
How?
Warriors and people's hearts are closing to the one who flight for them. David grant people's heart. So he may be a king of Israel.
