Ephesians 4:1-16
Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every word of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, Christ.
Why?
Unity- in practice
Christian unity is a fact Christians are bound together by a common faith, a common life, common loyalty, common purpose. They serve one Master. He is the head, they are the limbs of a single body.
But they are not all identical in temperament, personality or gifts. The bond must constantly be cemented鞏固 by a loving, forbearing attitude to one another, and by using the different gifts for the common good. We have to grow up together until we are all Christ wants us to be.
How?
We are one in Christ, to serve the Lord, may I live a life worthy of the calling I have received. Be completely humble and gentle and speak the truth in love, grow up into Him.
The love is the essential element to cement all body in Christ. The motivation is love.
