Daniel 8:1-14
Daniel saw vision of ram and goat in the third of King Belshazzar's reign.
Daniel heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, "How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled - the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes the daily desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and of the host that will be trampled underfoot?" He said to Daniel, "It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated."
Two-horned ram which symbolizes Medo-Persia will be superseded by the swift-footed goat- Alexander's Greek Empire. The four horns are the kingdoms into which his empire was divided. The little horn, in this chapter, refers to Antiochus IV, who rules Syria 175-164BC. Which resulted in the Jewish Maccabern revolt. 1 Maccabee 1-6 recounts this period of Jewish history.
2300 days: Antiochu first meddled in Jewish affairs in 171; he died in 164BC.
Why?
Daniel saw similar vision about the future of the two kingdoms, and one more king will rebel Jewish and sanctuary for seven years.
These prophecy are come true after Daniel, which reminds us that all the words of Bible or the words of God will come true.
How?
Have faith in the Lord and Jesus Christ. He is the sovereign Lord. God permitted some rebellion in this world until the vision are fulfilled, so we Christian may learn from it and grow up in our spiritual life.
